Manual ECCE

Large incision manual extracapsular cataract extraction is an older technique for removal of the lens nucleus. You may still find it to be the procedure of choice for a very dense nucleus. Small incision ECCE is a safe, less equipment intensive alternative to phacoemulsification used frequently in areas around the world that don’t have access phaco machines.
